I&M Burbidge Capital Limited is a Corporate Finance Advisory firm, part of the I&M Group PLC, creating long-term advisory relationships & solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa with a specific focus on the East African region.
I&M Burbidge Capital specialises in advising businesses in the region on significant capital raising through IPOs, private equity, debt and Mergers & Acquisition transactions and mainly focus on mid & large sized companies with typical transaction size of $5 million – $300 million.
Founded in Nairobi in 2010 by Edward Burbidge as Burbidge Capital Limited, the company has since extended its reach to other parts of Sub-Saharan Africa as well as set up ties with partner investment banks in Africa, Europe & Asia.
In 2012, Burbidge Capital Limited set up a subsidiary in Uganda.
In 2016, I&M Group PLC, acquired 65% shareholding in Burbidge Capital Group. Following this acquisition, Burbidge Capital is now a member of the I&M Group and was renamed I&M Burbidge Capital, shortly after the acquisition.
I&M Burbidge Capital Limited is a part of the I&M Group which comprises of its banking entities in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. I&M Group is a leader in the financial services industry in East Africa with a significant presence in the banking, insurance, manufacturing and real estate sectors.
Listed on the NSE with a market capitalization of c. USD 500 million, it is regulated by the Capital Markets Authority as well as by the Central Bank of Kenya as a a non-operating holding company.

Ferdinand Okoth
Head of Corporate Finance Technical
As an advisor with extensive experience in Corporate Finance theory and practice, Ferdinand leads our Technical and Quality assurance standards in Financial Modelling, Valuation and Reporting. He previously worked at KPMG East Africa as a Corporate Finance manager and was also a Lecturer and Dean of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Strathmore University. Recently he was the Transaction Advisor for DT Global on the Sustainable Urban Economic Development (SUED) programme.
In addition to advisory and teaching, he speaks regularly in forums and conferences on Financial Modelling, Quantitative Risk Management, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Asset Pricing and has written various articles on these topics.
Ferdinand is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya, a KPMG Accredited Financial Modeller and an IFC LPI Certified Trainer. He holds a Masters in Financial Markets from Moi University, Kenya and a Bachelors degree in Finance from Maseno University, Kenya.
Kevin is a Senior Associate Vice President in the team. He holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Finance from Strathmore University and has completed sections 1 – 4 of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya qualification.
He previously worked at I&M Burbidge Capital as an intern and the Institute for Small Business Initiatives at the Strathmore Business School.

Dipna Shah
Associate Vice President
Dipna serves as an Associate Vice President at IMBC. She is a seasoned investment professional with 15 years of experience in Asset Management, Private Equity and Corporate Finance. She previously worked at Azuri Technologies as the EA Financial Analyst where she played a key role in analyzing customer portfolios, distributor financial health and creating value through looking at operational efficiencies.
Prior to that she worked for the Abraaj Group where she was part of the Africa investment Team deploying Abraaj’s Africa fund III as well as assisting in managing portfolio companies from previous funds.
Dipna also worked at Sanlam Investment East Africa Ltd (previously Pine Bridge) where she rose through the ranks from an analyst to Head of Equity Research.
She is a CFA Charter holder, has a BA (Hons) in Business and IT from Coventry University in the UK and is currently pursuing a Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance from Frankfurt School of Business and Management.
Viraj is currently a Senior Corporate Finance Associate at I&M Burbidge Capital and has been a part of the team that has successfully executed transactions in the financial services, manufacturing, real estate, renewable energy, agriculture, petroleum and oil sectors across East Africa. Viraj plays a key role in several internal teams, including origination and marketing efforts.
Viraj holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He has successfully completed Level I and Level II of the Certified Institute of Securities and Investments and is now pursuing Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst.

Aayush is currently an analyst at I&M Burbidge Capital and has been a part of the team that has successfully executed transactions in healthcare, media, manufacturing and agriculture sectors across East Africa.
Aayush works and manages internal documentation and research for the transactions.
Aayush holds an Associated Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and Chartered Public Accountant – Kenya (CPA-K) certifications. He also holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Accounting and Financial Management from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.
